What we do

Three businesses on one block

A full mechanical workshop, a used car yard and a wrecking yard, all run by the same people at the same address. It is why a job that would normally mean two trips into town and a week waiting on a part often gets sorted here in one.

Servicing and repairs

General mechanical work on the family car, the ute and the work vehicle, backed by diagnostic equipment and scan tools rather than guesswork.

Roadworthy certificates

Licensed roadworthy testers on site, so a car being sold, re-registered or brought in from interstate can be inspected and certified here.

LPG work

A licensed LPG technician on hand, which is not something every country workshop can offer.

Tyres, fitting and balancing

New and second hand tyres held in stock, with the tyre changer and wheel balancer running most days. Sonar Tyres stockist.

Batteries

R&J Batteries stockist, supplied and fitted while you are here.

Used cars

Quality second hand cars sold drive away with a roadworthy, from a licensed motor car trader. LMCT 7473.

The workshop

Seven bays, six hoists, and the gear to find the actual fault

The workshop runs seven work bays with six hoists between them, in two post, four post and scissor configurations, so a ute on the hoist does not hold up the car behind it. Diagnostic equipment and scan tools mean a warning light gets read properly rather than guessed at.

It is a VACC accredited workshop with licensed roadworthy testers and a licensed LPG technician on site. New and second hand tyres are held in stock, and between the tyre changer and the wheel balancer, as the shop puts it, they are seldom idle.

Who you are dealing with

Fifty six years on the same corner of the highway

Beverford Motors has been trading since 1970. It has had a few owners across that time, and in December 2022 Damon and Tam took it on and have kept it running as the same sort of place: a country workshop where you talk to the person doing the work.

Beverford sits on the Murray Valley Highway about fourteen kilometres north of Swan Hill, which means the shop looks after the local district and, fairly often, whoever has come unstuck on the highway that morning. Both happen in the same week most weeks.

“If we don't have the part you are looking for, we are generally only a phone call away from finding it for you.”

What is on the door

  • VACC accredited

Member of the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce.

  • LMCT 7473

Licensed motor car trader, so cars are sold properly.

  • Roadworthy testers

Licensed to inspect and issue roadworthy certificates.

  • LPG licensed

A licensed LPG technician on hand.

Used cars

Sold drive away, with a roadworthy, by the people who service them

Cars on the yard are sold drive away with a roadworthy certificate from a licensed motor car trader. The advantage of buying from a workshop rather than a yard is simple enough: the same people who sold you the car are the ones who will service it afterwards, and they are still here.

Wrecking and parts

Around two hundred vehicles in the yard

The wrecking yard holds roughly two hundred vehicles, heavily weighted towards Ford and Holden, with Hyundai, Nissan and plenty of others through it as well. New and second hand parts both go over the counter.

Parts also go out nationally through the eBay store, so something sitting on a shelf at Beverford can be on its way to the other side of the country the same week.

Chasing a part?

Ring with the make, model and year. If it is not in the yard, they will generally know who has it.

How lucky was I to find Beverford Motors. A damsel in distress from QLD with no windscreenwipers. Not fun yesterday driving the Murray Valley Highway in the pouring rain. Jess had Austin look at my van almost immediately and although he could not replace the wiper unit he got the part back in place and after testing it back at my camp ta da... the wipers worked. I would certainly recommend these guys.

I've had need to call them to enquire about parts and towing and they have been very helpful and courteous. Recently helped my brother in Ballarat buy a used vehicle from here, six weeks later, he's still very pleased with it and I got my ute a long over due service, great job, very happy, brilliant people.
